The Trailhawk Release

With the fall release of the 2017 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, Jeep is looking to add to its reputation as the maker of the most awarded SUV ever. The new Trailhawk is Jeep’s most capable SUV ever. Yet, the automaker has even grander ambitions. Jeep plans to corner the off-road SUV subsegment and topple the Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro once and for all. In the Plymouth area, Best Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is the go-to dealership for every one of Jeep’s award-winning SUVs.

The Trailhawk has been in production since 2014. For 2017, it joins the Grand Cherokee lineup as a sixth model (Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit, SRT and Trailhawk).

Improvements

The improvements to the all-new Trailhawk bode well for this fledgling model as it looks to reestablish itself within its segment.

The Grand Cherokee is built for the trail, thanks to a host of standard, off-road capability features. Those features include Jeep’s Quadra-Drive II four-wheel drive system with rear Electronic Limited Slip Differential (ELSD) for all powertrains. The system offers improved articulation and total suspension travel. It also comes with Selec-Speed Control with Hill Ascent Control.

Approach angle on the Grand Cherokee is 29.8 degrees.  This increases to 36.1 degrees when the lower front fascia is removed for severe off-roading. In all, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk offers up to 10.8 inches of ground clearance.

That means this vehicle is designed to tackle extreme terrains.

Eye-Catching Design

What’s more, the Trailhawk’s exterior has the distinctive front fascia and seven-slot Jeep grille that debuted on the 2016 Grand Cherokee 75th Anniversary edition. Also, standard rugged 18-inch or optional 20-inch Goodyear Adventure off-road tires with Kevlar reinforcement are available with the new model.

Just because the Trailhawk cuts a rugged and imposing figure does not mean it lacks refinement. In fact, it is quite the opposite.

Trailhawk models come with a unique black interior with leather and suede performance seats that offer comfort and control. Other touches include Trailhawk-signature red tow hooks in the front and rear, new Trailhawk and Trail Rated badges with red accents, mirror caps and a roof rack with Neutral Gray accents, and optional Mopar rock rails for added protection.

Plus, the new model comes with a standard 8.4-inch Uconnect touch screen which includes updated off-road pages showing wheel articulation, suspension height and 4×4 and Selec-Terrain modes.

Trailhawk models are available in Redline Red, Billet Silver, Bright White, Rhino, Granite Crystal, Velvet Red and Diamond Black Crystal exterior paints.
