Getting out and enjoying nature with a camping trip is a great way to relax and take in the sights and sounds of nature. If you’re planning a camping getaway, consider these locations around Odessa. 

  1. Midessa Oil Patch RV Park

If you’re planning an RV excursion, Midessa Oil Patch RV Park offers a variety of amenities for an enjoyable camping experience. The park offers campers a convenience store, laundry, propane, sewer hookups, picnic and BBQ facilities, internet access, and full hookups. The park also has tent sites available for those looking for a rural setting with a quiet atmosphere plus amenities to set up camp.

Midessa provides onsite activities designed for all ages. These include a playground for kids, a sparkling swimming pool, a recreation room, assorted outdoor games, and bird watching opportunities. For activities near the park, there’s something for everyone such as golf, tennis, billiards, and trap and skeet shooting.

Located 18 miles from Odessa and across the street from the I-20 Wildlife Refuge, Midland RV Campground offers 169 full hook-up sites on spacious sites equipped with water, sewer, electricity, free cable TV, 30 to 50 amp hookups, and free Wi-Fi. Choose a shady site among mature trees or one of the 120 sites without trees.  If you’re not an RV owner, the campground offers four apartments and six cozy camping cabins.

The campground features dog runs for your canine friends, laundry facilities, showers, and a fitness room with a variety of equipment. You can also replenish your propane supply, pick up a snack, and get ice for your beverages from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the office.

  1. Lake Colorado City State Park

Just an hour and a half away from Odessa, Lake Colorado City State Park offers swimming, paddling, geocaching, picnicking, hiking, photo opportunities, and wildlife observation. Fishing is also popular at the 1,618-acre lake where you’ll have access to a fishing pier, boat ramp, and fishing barge. You can enjoy all of this when setting up camp.
